How to Level a Refrigerator When the Floor Is Not Level

A refrigerator that is not level poses all sorts of problems to the homeowner. Chief among them is the fact that food and perishables may slip and slide around on the shelves if the fridge leans to one side more than the other. Fortunately, refrigerator legs can be adjusted to account for the uneveness of floors.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the fridge to prevent any electrical shock during the operation.

    • 2

Examine the feet of the refrigerator. There will be a large hex screw near each foot. This is the adjuster screw that will lower or raise the height of that particular foot.

    • 3

Open the refrigerator doors and place the level on one of the shelves.

    • 4

Turn the adjuster screw with your socket wrench. Most screws take a 3/8-inch socket. Turn the screw clockwise to lower the foot and counterclockwise to raise it.

    • 5

Adjust each foot as needed. Examine the level periodically until it shows that the fridge is leveled properly. Plug the fridge back in.
