How to Make a Temporary Hanging Clothes Rack

Coming up with new ways and places to hang clothing can be challenging if you have limited closet space. Though you can hang a rod from a ceiling, a more temporary solution is one which can be disassembled and tossed once the need for the extra space is no longer needed. A cardboard based temporary closet is an option for hanging racks to store goods.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn a refrigerator box sideways with the shortest side facing down to be used as the base.

    • 2

Cut a wooden dowel rod to fit the width of the box using a saw. Sand down the edges to create smooth ends.

    • 3

Cut holes in both sides of the box using a box cutter. Make the holes six inches from the top of the box.

    • 4

Insert the dowel rod through the holes, starting from the outside of the box and pushing the dowel rod through until it comes out the other side through the second hole.

    • 5

Hang lightweight items on hangers inside the box.
