How to Arrange a Bathroom Sink

A bathroom sink can easily become cluttered and messy with everyday use. Giving everything in the bathroom a designated spot makes it easier to keep it all put away and organized. Pare your personal items and cosmetics down to the essentials, throw out anything that is rarely or never used and purge expired products and medications to make your products more manageable. The less you have, the easier it will be to find a place for everything and keep the sink area clean and organized.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove all non-essentials from the counter top. A cluttered counter creates places for water to pool up and dust to collect, in addition to interfering with a relaxing atmosphere. A clear counter is easier to clean.

    • 2

Move items you use daily into the medicine cabinet, or a cabinet or drawer that is easy to access while standing at the sink.

    • 3

Place items used infrequently in slightly less-accessible storage areas, such as in a storage closet in the bathroom or a lower drawer.

    • 4

Place your soap pump or dish to the upper right or left of the sink.

    • 5

Place toothbrushes in a toothbrush holder and store it in the medicine cabinet. If it won't fit, invest in a hanging toothbrush rack to mount on the wall, saving counter space.

    • 6

Keep clean hand towels hanging on a towel rack next to the sink and put clean towels in a basket near the sink when you have house guests.

    • 7

Arrange cleaning supplies, extra toilet paper, soap refills and other essential but unsightly items under the sink. Put them on a Lazy Susan to make it easier to reach the items without disturbing everything as you dig for something in the back.

    • 8

Put any additional cosmetics into labeled plastic containers and put them under the sink, in a closet or storage cabinet or wherever you have space left in the bathroom to keep them off the counter top.

    • 9

Decorate the sink area with a small, decorative item only if there is plenty of extra space on the counter where it won't get splashed with water or become a nuisance.
