How to Encase Wires Running Down the Wall From a Wall-Hung TV

You can hang your flat-panel television on your wall as you would hang a picture. Mounting your television on the wall frees up space, but the complication is that every television has wires. With a wire cord cover, you can camouflage the wires so they are not dangling down the wall for all to see. Installation does not take much time and will allow you to watch your television without seeing ugly wires bunched up hanging down the wall. The wire cord cover also prevents children or pets from having access to the wires.

Instructions

    • 1

Find the center of the television, using a tape measure. Measure the width and mark the wall with a pencil just below the center of the television.

    • 2

Hold a level vertically from the center of the television to the floor and trace a line down the wall.

    • 3

Measure the line and add about 1 inch to the measurement to ensure the top of the cover is hidden behind the television.

    • 4

Cut a wire cover with a handsaw to the length that you measured, including the additional inch. You will need to cut the front and back piece.

    • 5

Hold the back piece of the wire cover case against the wall and line it up with the level. Place the cut end at the top so the television hides it.

    • 6

Shade in the two holes on the top of the cover, two in the center and two at the bottom, using a pencil.

    • 7

Remove the wire cover and screw in the wall anchors over the markings you made, using a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 8

Hold the back piece of the wire cover over the anchors and turn screws into the anchors to hold the back piece of the wire cover in place.

    • 9

Gather the cable wires and line them up against the back piece of the wire cover. The wires should lie flat and not stacked.

    • 10

Push the front piece of the wire cover case against the back piece until it snaps into place. You can slide the cover piece up and down once you have snapped it in place.
