How to Create Your Own Linen Closet With Adjustable Laminate Shelves

Adjustable laminate shelving is a durable and practical choice for linen closets, particularly since you can move the shelves to suit your needs over the years to come.

2 or more single-track shelving uprights
2 1/2-inch screws

Phillips head drill bit
Shelf supports
Laminate shelves, cut to size

Instructions

  Measure the width, height and depth of your linen closet. Use a stud finder to determine the position of each wall stud, typically every 16 inches. Make a pencil mark at each stud.

  Draw a straight line using a level to mark the top edge of each upright.

  Secure each upright track to the wall studs with 2 1/2-inch screws. Use a drill equipped with a Phillips head bit to quickly and easily screw the upright supports into place. Install one track every 16 inches to provide secure shelf support in your linen closet.

  Install shelf supports. Slide each support into the slots on the track and push down firmly to secure into place.

  Place the shelves on top of the supports.
