DIY Labels for IKEA Spice Jars

A quick pinch of the wrong spice can ruin a dish you've been slaving over for hours, and that kind of mistake is easy to make when all of your spices are stored in identical IKEA spice jars. Avoid an emergency call to the pizza delivery guy by clearly labeling the jars with simple, homemade labels. Each label only takes a couple minutes to make using a few inexpensive supplies, and doing so could save your next dinner party or family dinner.

Instructions

    • 1

Punch a 2-inch circle from a solid-color sheet of contact paper for each spice jar you need to label. Choose a light shade of contact paper so you can easily read the labels.

    • 2

Write the name of a spice on one of the contact paper circles with a fine-tip black permanent marker. Write the name as large as you can within the confines of the circle. Write the name clearly so everyone can read it, not just you. Repeat until labels are made for each spice.

    • 3

Stick each label to the appropriate jar by peeling the backing paper from the circle before pressing it on the front of the jar. Rub any air bubbles out from under the labels with your fingers.

Punch a 2-inch circle from clear contact paper for each jar. Peel the backing paper off the circles one at a time and place them over the colored labels on each jar. The clear contact paper will prevent the marker from rubbing off the labels over time.
