Instructions

    • 1

Place the board on a work surface with the 3-by-24-inch side resting flat. Stand the books you desire to store on the shelf upright on top of the board, as if they were on a bookshelf.

    • 2

Hold one end of the nylon webbing in the center of the board’s 3-inch width and position it on the outside edge of the first book. Staple the end to the board with four staples using a staple gun that is equipped with 1/2-inch staples.

    • 3

Pull the webbing up the side of the outside book and down the opposite side. Staple the webbing to the board close to the opposite side, using four staples as you did in Step 2. Continue in this manner until the webbing is looped over each book and fastened to the board at each side of the respective books.

    • 4

Remove the books from the webbing and set them aside, maintaining the order in which they were placed on the board and webbing loops.

    • 5

Position the bottom side of the board underneath the countertop where you would like to locate the bookshelf so that the webbing loops are hanging down. Drive two evenly spaced 2-inch pan-head wood screws through the board at each end into the bottom side of the countertop using a screw gun to fasten the board in place.

    • 6

Open each book so that the covers are separated from the pages. Hold the pages in a solid block and slide them through the respective webbing loops for each book. Close the covers as you slide them into place. The covers will conceal the webbing and allow the books to appear as if they are floating underneath the countertop.
