Fun Themes for Super Bowl Desserts

Super Bowl Sunday is a day to cheer on your team, scream at the screen during bad calls, or just enjoy the party snacks and treats with friends and family. Make your next Super Bowl party stand out from the rest by creating fun desserts to eat while your team hopefully scores the winning touchdown.
  1. Opposing Teams

    • Turn the rivalry of the game into an all-out dessert war. Bake several dozen cupcakes, or enough to provide each person at the party with at least five to six. Decorate the cupcakes with the colors of each team and set them up on tables in your yard, or basement if the weather doesn’t permit. Divide the guests into teams of two based on the teams they’re supporting, and set them on either side of the room, or at least 10 feet away from each other. Use the cupcakes as the footballs and reenact the game as it has happened so far. Encourage the players to shove the cupcakes in one another’s face or just enjoy the treats instead. At the end of the game, enjoy the second half of the Super Bowl with some cupcakes that were saved from the melee.

    Puffed Rice Treats

    • Use a classic treat, puffed rice and marshmallows, to create Super Bowl-themed goodies. Create a batch of the iconic snacks, according to the package directions, right before the guests arrive or during halftime. While the treats are still warm, gather everyone in the kitchen and provide football-themed cookie cutters, food coloring and topping for the guests to personalize their Super Bowl rice treats. Once the guests are done, allow the treats to harden for at least 30 minutes before serving them on football paper plates.

    Super Bowl Trivia

    • Teach your guests a little about Super Bowl history while playing a fun game during halftime. Bake several treats with a football theme, including helmet-shaped cakes, cupcakes frosted in the colors of the teams or sugar cookies frosted and decorated with football themes. Divide the guests into two teams and test their knowledge of Super Bowl history and their favorite team. Each time a person from one of the teams answers a question correctly, he gets a Super Bowl-themed treat. If he answers incorrectly or passes, a member of the opposing team gets to steal a treat away. Continue until all the treats are passed out and everyone is ready to enjoy the remainder of the game.

    Battle of the Sexes

    • This treat is best saved for before or after the game, as it takes a little time. Set up two teams based on gender, leaving two to three people out of the game to act as judges. Assemble all the ingredients and tools required to create Super Bowl treats of your choosing. The teams have a certain amount of time to create and decorate the treats. Encourage trash talking and sabotage to keep the game fun. Once finished, the teams must present their treats along with a cheer to the judges. The team with the best treats and most creative cheer wins.
