Locate the positions of the ceiling joists where you plan to install the utensil rack. Two screw hooks will be installed in the joist(s). Depending on the orientation of the installed rack, the screw hooks may be installed in the same or adjacent joists.
Mark the ceiling where the screw hooks will be installed so they will screw into the ceiling joists. For the suspension chains to hang vertically, the hooks should be spaced about 30 inches apart. It is not strictly necessary to hang the chains vertically. Drill a pilot hole into each mark, through the ceiling and into the ceiling joists. Screw a screw hook into each pilot hole until the curved portions of the screws meet the ceiling.
Hold the free ends of the two adjacent suspension chains from a short end of the rack in one hand. Use the other hand to connect the terminal (end) links with an S hook. Connect the remaining chains on the other end of the rack with another S hook. Hang the S hooks onto the screw hooks installed in the ceiling.
