How to Make Your Shower Control Easy to Regulate Temperature

Regulating the temperature in the shower often poses difficulty for young children when they transition from the traditional bath to the grownup shower. Both the hot and cold water faucets must be manipulated to control the temperature. Delays in temperature change may cause the impatient children to continue to adjust the faucet, resulting in showers that are either too hot or too cold. Making it easy for your child to adjust the temperature gives him the confidence he needs to take a shower without assistance from an adult.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a small sticker at the top center of the faucet knob on both the hot and cold water faucet. The sticker should be near the outer rim of the knob, as it will serve as a marker for adjusting the water temperature.

    • 2

Adjust the hot and cold faucets until the shower is the desired temperature for bathing. Allow the shower to run for two minutes and test the temperature. Keep in mind that children often prefer a cooler temperature than adults.

    • 3

Mark a point corresponding to the sticker on the faucet knob onto the shower wall. A small dot from a permanent marker is barely noticeable, but it will mark the position.

    • 4

Turn the shower off and dry the shower wall with a soft cloth, using care not to remove the dot from the marker.

    • 5

Apply a small sticker to the shower wall covering the dot from the marker. This marks the proper location for adjusting the water temperature.

    • 6

Align the stickers on the knobs with the stickers on the shower wall to adjust the temperature of the shower.
