How to Protect a Dresser Top

Dressers sometimes undergo a lot of wear and tear from frequent use due to their location in a common traffic area like a bedroom. TVs and other devices are frequently positioned on top of dressers and they can scratch the wood. Beverages can spill and cause water stains and material damage to the dresser surface. Protecting a dresser top can be done easily with minimal fuss.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length and width of the dresser surface with a tape measure.

    • 2

Purchase an acrylic plastic sheet from a hardware store and have it cut it to the dimensions you measured.

    • 3

Position the acrylic plastic on top of the dresser and then place any electronics or other items on top of the plastic instead of the dresser surface itself. Acrylic plastic is clear and is scratch resistant.

    • 4

Place a cloth or sheet of paper towel underneath beverages to provide further protection in case the beverage spills.
