Instructions

    • 1

Blot the area with a damp-to-dry cloth. Remove and throw away any chunks. Vomit is highly acidic and can quickly stain material if fast action is not taken.

    • 2

Dampen the area with a warm, moist towel. Do not overly saturate the spot, but simply dampen the area.

    • 3

Sprinkle a combination of salt and baking soda over the spot liberally. A good mixture is 50 percent salt and 50 percent baking soda; but if you do not have ample salt, simply use more baking soda.

    • 4

Let the area dry thoroughly, then vacuum it using a hand vacuum or a vacuum with a hose attachment. Apply a warm, damp cloth to the area again, then sprinkle additional salt and baking soda on the spot. Allow the powder substance to dry.

Vacuum the remaining powder. Spray the area with a pet odor neutralizer. Follow the directions on the label for application instructions. Most of them require you to simply saturate the area with the neutralizer, then blot it dry. Pet neutralizers are widely available at most pet stores.
