How to Clean Dirt Stains on Cream Leather Sofa

A cream leather sofa can add a touch of class and elegance to any home. Although leather is naturally durable, it requires special care and cleaning techniques to maintain its rich appearance. Since most leather furniture is finished, mild soap and water are safe to use for spot cleaning and dirt stains. Check the label or manufacturer's instructions to be sure your cream leather sofa is safe to clean.

Instructions

    • 1

Vacuum the surface of the leather sofa if necessary. Use the brush attachment and apply gentle pressure to avoid damaging or scratching the leather.

    • 2

Combine 2 tsp. of mild dish detergent and 1 qt. of warm water in a bucket or container. Mix it with a spoon or your hand to create foamy bubbles.

    • 3

Dip a soft cloth into the soapy water and wring it out. Wipe the dirt stains in small, circular motions. Use gentle pressure to avoid grinding the stains into the leather.

    • 4

Rinse the cloth with clean water and wring it out. Wipe the leather with the cloth to remove any soap residue.

    • 5

Blot the leather with a soft, dry cloth to absorb any excess moisture. Buff the area with the cloth to restore texture and shine.
