Using Glass Cleaner to Clean Microfiber Furniture

Microfiber furniture is a durable material that resists fading and stains. With daily, however, use even microfiber furniture can become dirty, stained and in need of a thorough cleaning. Microfiber furniture can be cleaned with a variety of household items, including ammonia. If you have no ammonia in your home and cannot make it out to the nearest store, grab your glass cleaner instead. Ammonia is a common ingredient in glass cleaners and can be used interchangeably to spot clean your microfiber furniture.

  • Vacuum with upholstery attachment
  • Rubber gloves
  • Ammonia
  • Cloth
  • Soft-bristled brush

      Attach your vacuum's upholstery attachment to the vacuum's hose. Move the upholstery attachment over the surface of the microfiber furniture to remove dirt, dust, hair and other debris.

      Open windows and doors to the area you will be working in. This will provide the room with adequate air ventilation. Equip yourself with a pair of rubber gloves.

      Dampen a clean cloth with the glass cleaner. Do not spray the glass cleaner directly on the microfiber. Rub the microfiber furniture with the cloth in a circular motion.

      Continue rubbing the spots and stains with the cloth. Add more glass cleaner to the cloth if needed.

      Allow the microfiber furniture to air dry. Brush the microfiber with a soft-bristled brush after it has dried to keep the fabric from becoming stiff.
