How to Clean Microsuede Couches

Microsuede couches are made of a soft, velvety material similar to natural suede. Low-maintenance microsuede couches make an affordable, practical alternative to natural suede. The microsuede fabric consists of many small polyester threads woven together, enabling a wide array of safe cleaning options. Mild liquid cleaners will not damage, shrink or fade the microsuede fabric when used properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Vacuum the microsuede couch with a brush attachment. Remove the cushions and vacuum underneath, if necessary.

    • 2

Check the owner's manual or tag located on your microsuede sofa for an "S" or "W." An "S" means the couch should be cleaned with solvent, and a "W" means only water should be used. If both letters are present, either type of cleaner is safe to use.

    • 3

Fill a spray bottle with microsuede solvent or water, depending on the care instructions for your couch. If the couch is particularly dirty, add three or four drops of dish soap to the water-filled spray bottle.

    • 4

Spray the microfiber couch thoroughly with the water or solvent, concentrating the cleaner on any spots or stains.

    • 5

Wipe the microfiber couch with a cloth to remove any dirt or stains. If the couch is particularly dirty, reapply the water or solvent, and change cloths as needed.

    • 6

Allow the microfiber couch to dry completely.
