Allow an iron to preheat on a low temperature setting for several minutes. If the iron has steam capabilities, turn them off.
Place a white cotton towel directly on top of the water stains.
Rub the preheated iron over the cotton towel for several passes. Do not allow the iron plate to touch the wood table.
Lift the towel up and examine the water stain. If the stain is still visible, lay the towel back down and continue rubbing with the heated iron until the water stains disappear.
Apply wood polish and buff the table as you normally would.
Rub wood wax gently into the water stains using a piece of 000 steel wool. Continue for several passes until you have removed the stain. If the stain is still visible, continue with the remaining steps.
Wipe the water stains gently with fine sandpaper for a few passes.
Rub the water stains with a piece of 00 steel wool dipped in mineral spirits. Rub gently with the wood grain until you have removed the water spots.
Apply stain to the area of the wood to match the surrounding color. Allow the table to dry. Wax and buff the wood table as you normally would.
Create a paste by mixing cigarette ash and olive oil together in a small bowl.
Rub the paste into the water stains using a sponge. Rub for several passes.
Wipe the paste off the wood table with a damp cloth. Repeat the process if needed.
