How to Clean Pleather Upholstery

Good pleather upholstery provides the look of real leather without the high cost and maintenance requirements. Pleather furniture is available in a wide variety of colors, finishes and styles to suit any home. Pet hair, food or drink spills, and dirt can ruin the appearance of pleather upholstery. As with most fabrics, taking quick action after a spill can prevent tough stains from setting in. Vacuum your pleather upholstery regularly, and clean it with a mild laundry detergent to keep it looking like new.

Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of warm water, and add 1 to 2 tbsp. of mild laundry detergent.

    • 3

Dip a cloth into the bucket, and wring it out. Wipe over the pleather upholstery, including the cushions and sides of the furniture. Rinse the cloth in the bucket as often as necessary.

Empty the bucket and refill it with clean water. Dip a clean cloth into the bucket, and wring it out. Wipe the pleather upholstery with the wet cloth to remove any detergent residue.

Dry the pleather upholstery with a towel, pressing down firmly to absorb as much water as possible. Allow the upholstery to air-dry completely before replacing the cushions and pillows.
