Visit a housewares retailer. You will need to go to the bedding department and the shelves where you would find mattress accessories such as sheets and pillow cases. The packaging for a mattress pad will be fairly big, even for a smaller size bed such as a twin, so the product should be easy to spot.
Determine which king-size mattress pad fits your needs. Since air mattresses tend to have a slicker surface than the average spring mattress, you will need to look for a pad that has gripping, nonslip material. Also, the thicker the pad, the more comfortable, and therefore more expensive, it will be.
Remove the pillows, blankets, sheets and the old mattress pad from the air mattress once you arrive home. Place the old pad to the side for recycling, and place the sheets aside for machine washing.
Fit the new mattress pad to the air mattress. Align the pad corners with the corners of the mattress, and if the pad you purchased features straps, fasten them.
Fit a clean king-size sheet over the pad on the air mattress. Ensure that the sheet's four corners fit tightly over the four corners of the pad and air mattress. Make the bed as you see fit, with pillows, comforters and blankets.
