Scrape off the butter from the fabric, using a spoon. Remove as much butter as possible with the spoon.
Sprinkle 1 tsp. of baking soda directly onto the affected fabric. Keep the baking soda on the fabric for 15 minutes to absorb the oil.
Vacuum the stained area with a vacuum attachment. Remove all baking soda from the fabric.
Apply a prewash enzyme stain remover directly to the stain. Read the product's label for instructions on how much to apply. Keep the stain remover on the fabric for the amount of time recommended by the product manufacturer.
Dampen a cotton cloth with warm water. Blot the affected fabric with the damp cloth to rinse out the enzyme stain remover.
Blot the fabric with a terry cloth towel until dry. Repeat the process if some oil still remains on the fabric.
