How to Remove Cat Hair From Furniture

Keeping your house clean becomes complicated when you have pets. Cats, especially, shed and leave behind hair on clothing and furniture. Once in the fabric of your furniture, cat hair can be difficult to remove. You may need to combine several methods of removal to get rid of it completely. In addition, consider grooming your cat more often to remove excess hair and reduce future shedding.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on a pair of rubber gloves.

    • 2

Place your hands briefly under running water. Shake off the excess water so the gloves are damp rather than wet.

    • 3

Run your hands over your furniture to pick up and remove cat hair.

    • 4

Remove and dispose of the gloves.

    • 5

Attach a lint brush to your vacuum cleaner. If you do not have a lint-brush attachment, use a regular vacuum hose.

    • 6

Turn on your vacuum cleaner. Run the lint-brush attachment or hose over the affected pieces of furniture to suck up cat hair.

    • 7

Tear a strip of duct tape from the roll; make it long enough to wrap around the palm of your hand.

    • 8

Wrap the duct tape around your hand with the sticky side facing out, away from your skin.

    • 9

Pat your furniture, going over every inch until the last bits of cat hair are gone. Change duct tape when it contains too much hair to retain its stickiness.
