How to Care for Teak Wood Indoor Furniture

Teak wood naturally produces oil that protects it from excessive heat and moisture. The durability of the wood makes it a popular choice for both indoor and outdoor furniture. Over time, teak wood furniture will develop a gray-silver color, which creates the furniture's aged look. Teak wood requires little maintenance and you should perform a thorough cleaning of the furniture once a year to remove any dirt or grime.

Mix 1 gallon of warm water and 1/4 tsp. of liquid dish soap into a bucket. Add 1 cup of white vinegar to the mixture to remove mold, mildew and odors.

Submerge a sponge into the mixture. Hold the sponge over the bucket and wring out the excess liquid. Scrub the bottom of the teak wood furniture with the sponge and work your way upward.

    • 4

Submerge the sponge into the mixture when it becomes dingy. Continue scrubbing the teak wood furniture until the item is thoroughly cleaned.
