Silly Putty, invented in 1943 and sold commercially since 1950, has been a favorite toy for generations. Kids like Silly Putty because it can bounce, stretch and copy pictures and text from newspaper; adults enjoy squeezing it to relieve stress. Unfortunately, when the putty is pressed into clothing and furniture, it can create a messy stain. Crayola recommends cleaning the stain with lubricant, dish soap and rubbing alcohol.
