How to Prevent Mold on Trex Decking

Made from a wood composite that offers resistance to insects and moisture, Trex is a popular material choice for outdoor decks. While Trex decking may resist moisture, repeated exposure over time to damp or wet conditions without proper cleaning may result in the development of mold on the surface. Routine cleaning of the deck surface can help remove the mold, while preventing further development of mold requires some supplies from a hardware or home repair store.

  Clean the Trex decking with a solution of hot soapy water and a long-handled bristle brush. Scrub the entire Trex surface and rinse well with water.
