How to Kill Bedbugs Using Natural Oil

Bedbugs are insects that nest in soft fabrics and furniture such as mattresses and typically come out at night to feed on human blood. Before feeding, they are one-quarter inch long and completely flat. After feeding, they are bright red and round. The bedbugs leave bites that look like small, red welts. While bedbugs do not spread disease, many people are sensitive to the bites and can experience some associated pain or discomfort. A common solution for bedbugs is pesticide; however, you can also use a natural oil solution.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on a pair of gloves. Pure essential oil, absorbed into the skin, can be dangerous.

    • 2

Combine the lavender, eucalyptus and rosemary essential oils with 1 cup of water, adding the essential oil of clove if desired. Mix well and decant the mixture into a spray bottle.

    • 3

Spray the natural oil mixture anywhere you believe a bedbug infestation exists, on mattresses or other furniture. Keep pets away from the treated furniture until dry.
