Instructions

    • 1

Decide on a location to put your china closet so that it is away from heat sources, such as a radiator or heating vent.

    • 2

Keep a china closet away from high humidity areas, such as near a humidifier or next to the stove.

    • 3

Dust it frequently with a duster, vacuum or rag. If the china closet was labeled to have a water resistant polish, you can slightly dampen a dust rag with water. Start at the top and work your way to the bottom.

    • 4

Clean the glass with a window cleaner. Spray the cleaner on lightly and catch it with paper towels before it drips to the wood. Wipe the entire glass surface clean, starting at the top. A window cleaner wipe is convenient and works well, too.

Polish a new china closet every three or four months. Choose a furniture polish that was recommended by the manufacturer. Apply using a rag, spray it on or apply as indicated on the label. Immediately rub it with a dry, clean rag, wiping in the direction of the grain, while the polish is still wet.
