The Best Way to Kill Fleas on Upholstery

When fleas enter your home on a pet, you may think you can get rid of them by giving your furry friend a flea dip. However, that's typically not enough to end an infestation. Fleas often find places to hide in your home, such as by wriggling their tiny bodies into your upholstery. And if your upholstery is sensitive to moisture, you aren't able to shampoo them out. However, there is a simple away to get fleas out of your upholstery using common household items.

Instructions

    • 1

Sprinkle powdered borax liberally on the upholstery's surface. Make sure all your pets are contained in a separate room, as borax is toxic to them.

    • 2

Wait four to six hours for the borax to work. When fleas walk on the substance, it dehydrates them.

    • 3

Vacuum up the borax solution. It is normal to see dead fleas interspersed with the powder.

    • 4

Repeat the process in three or four days to kill any fleas that were hatched from eggs laid on the upholstery. It is important to kill these fleas before they can also lay eggs.
