Determine what you need in the room. A baby does not require a lot of furniture, items like a changing table, dresser and a comfortable chair for mom and dad are all you need in addition to the crib.
Plan the space. Measure your room and the usable length of each wall so you know how much space you have to work with. Then measure each item of furniture you consider bringing into the room. This will help you ensure that the crib fits the room.
Arrange the room with safety in mind. Do not place the crib near windows or near curtain strings, due to strangulation issues.
Place the crib in the room first and arrange the rest of your furniture around it, to ensure that it fits in the room.
