How to Remove a Blueberry Stain in Upholstery

Blueberry stains are not always easy to remove from fabric and are considered a dye stain. The colored juice of blueberries easily penetrates upholstery and may last indefinitely if not treated and cleaned. Standard upholstery cleaners may not always work on these tough stains, but some common household products often will. Like with most stains, the more quickly you treat a blueberry stain, the easier it will be to remove.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour 2/3 cup of rubbing alcohol into a measuring cup. Add one tbsp. of white vinegar and stir to blend.

    • 2

Put on rubber gloves. Use a tissue to pick up solid pieces of blueberry from the upholstery, if there are any.

    • 3

Soak a white cloth in the solution and dab it on the blueberry stain.

Continue dabbing, using clean areas of the cloth, until you've gotten up as much of the stain as you can.

    • 4

Check the upholstery again after it has dried. If any hint of blueberry stain remains, use the vinegar and alcohol mix again or mix together 1 tbsp. of dishwashing detergent with 2 cups of warm water and blot the stain with that mixture.

Blot the fabric with clear cold water once the stain is removed.
