Flip your mattress so that the side that was on the bottom is on the top. This is the easiest way to fix an uneven mattress, although it does not work for all kinds of mattresses; for example, pillow top mattresses that do not have a cushion on both sides typically cannot be flipped. When you flip a mattress, it is best to rotate the mattress as well to take some of the pressure off the mattress parts on which you normally sleep.
Inspect the supports on which the box spring or mattress sits. If any of the supports look bent, measure the space between each frame and cut a piece of 3/4-inch plywood to that size. Place the cut plywood across the frame, and then put your box spring and/or mattress on top. The plywood will provide more support, preventing mattress unevenness and sagging.
Check whether or not the box spring has bent or broken springs. If if it does, either replace the springs or purchase a new box spring. For a temporary fix, though, remove the mattress from the box spring, and place folded blankets in the areas where the mattress is uneven until it is level.
Place an inflatable mattress support device on the bed's box spring or platform. An inflatable mattress support device is typically made of several chambers that you can inflate slowly with air. Set the mattress on top of the support device, and slowly inflate the device's chambers with the device's pump until the mattress is even.
