These hairs linger on the arms and backs of sofas, becoming embedded in the cushions. Though this is annoying, it is possible to remove the fur littering your sofa cushions. A few average household items and a little elbow grease are all you need to effectively remove pesky dog hair from your sofa cushions.

Instructions

    • 1

Vacuum the sofa cushions with a handheld vacuum or its upholstery attachment. Go over each cushion thoroughly to remove as much hair as possible.

    • 2

Wear a rubber glove on your hand and dampen the glove with water. Run your gloved hand over the cushions to gather excess dog fur. This step may also be done using a bare, dampened hand if no rubber gloves are available.

    • 3

Run a lint roller, Velcro roller, fabric softener sheet or piece of packing tape (with the sticky side down) over the cushions. These items loosen and collect dog hair from your cushions for you.

    • 4

Purchase a specialty pet hair remover tool from a pet store. These tools are designed to grab dog hair from furniture cushions and remove it, even if stuck or in a tricky spot.

Pick the hair from the cushions using your bare hand. Your fingers are ideal tools for picking out individual, stuck pieces of dog hair in your cushions. This method takes a lot of time, but is by far the least expensive method and is extremely effective.
