How to Clean My Suede Cotton Polyester Couch

Caring for and cleaning a couch made from various fabrics -- such as a suede cotton polyester couch -- can be a bit difficult. Improper cleaning can cause more harm than good. Before you attempt to remove spots and stains, check the instruction label for either an S or W on the tag. An S indicates dry-cleaning solvent for cleaning, while a W means a soap mixture of 1 tsp. liquid dish soap combined with 2 cups of water. However, if the tag has both an S and W, you can use either cleaning solution to remove stains from the suede cotton polyester couch.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the brush attachment on the vacuum cleaner hose. Start at the top of the couch and move the upholstery brush across the fabric while moving down the couch. Repeat this process once a week to keep the couch clean.

    • 2

Use a suede brush to gently brush away dirt spots on the upholstery. Brush in the direction of the nap of the couch.

    • 3

Moisten a lint-free cloth in the appropriate cleaning solution depending on what the couch’s care label states.

    • 4

Blot any stains on the couch with the moist cloth for several minutes until you have removed them from the fabric.

    • 5

Blot the cleaning solution off the couch with a clean cloth damp with water. Pat the excess liquid off the fabric with a towel.
