How to Clean a White Velvet Couch

Even though it provides a lustrous addition to your living room, a white velvet couch can be difficult to clean.       Remove the dirt and debris sitting on the surface of the couch by running a vacuum cleaner upholstery attachment over the velvet. Repeat this step once a week to remove hair, dirt, lint and other debris from the couch.

      Dampen a soft cloth lightly with upholstery shampoo safe for velvet. Rub stains gently with the damp cloth. Refrain from rubbing too hard as it could damage the velvet fabric.

      Dampen a clean, soft cloth with cool water. Blot the upholstery shampoo off the velvet couch with the damp cloth. Pat the upholstery dry with a soft towel. Alternatively, hold a hairdryer on low heat a few inches above the damp velvet to dry it.

      Brush the dry, white velvet couch gently with a velvet brush. Brush with the nap of the velvet.
