How to Get Nail Polish Off of Micro Suede Couches

The method for removing nail polish from micro suede is similar to that for removing polish from most other types of upholstered furniture, and can be achieved with a few cleaning products that you may already have at home. Before you begin, check the care tag on your couch and look for the symbols W/S or S. If the tag has a W/S symbol, clean the couch with water and soap. If your couch has just an S symbol, use a solvent.

Instructions

  1. The Water and Soap Method

    • 1

Mix 2 cups of cold water with gentle liquid hand soap.

    • 2

Moisten a sponge lightly with the mixture and gently dab away the remaining nail polish.

    • 3

Dab the area again with a clean sponge lightly moistened with clean water until all of the polish is gone.

    The Solvent Method

    • 4

Blot up as much of the nail polish as you can with a dry sponge. If the nail polish is already dry, scrape as much of the polish off of the couch with a letter opener or straight edge blade, without scraping the couch.

    • 5

Dip a small nailbrush or paintbrush into a non-acetone nail polish remover.

    • 6

Blot the polish or polish stain with the brush. Do this gently and be careful not to get any of the nail polish remover on non-polished or stained areas of the couch.

    • 7

Continue to blot the polish and stain until it gradually dissolves.

    • 8

Dab up the dissolved polish with a clean, dry sponge.
