How to Keep Leather Sofa Cushions From Slipping

Leather sofas offer both comfort and style, but the cushions do not always stay in place. If your sofa's cushions slip when you sit on them or get up, it is because the smooth surface of the cushion and the vinyl or leather covering the seat of the frame have no friction between them. Keep your cushions from slipping by adding a layer between them and the frame that will cause the friction needed to keep them in place.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the cushions from your couch. Measure from the inside edge of one armrest to the inside edge of the other armrest with a tape measure.

    • 2

Cut a piece of foam-rubber shelf liner to match the length measurement you took.

    • 3

Lay the shelf liner on the frame of the couch, stretching from armrest to armrest.

    • 4

Replace the cushions. You should notice that the fabric on the frame and the leather on the cushions catch against the foam rubber lining, keeping the cushions in place.
