How to Get House Fire Smell Out of a Leather Couch

A house fire can be devastating. Even a small house fire can leave a considerable amount of damage in its aftermath. It may be difficult to pick up the pieces after a fire, but if you are fortunate, you may be able to salvage some of your belongings. Unfortunately, the smell of smoke can linger in furniture long after the flames are gone.

Things You'll Need

  • White distilled vinegar
  • Water
  • Spray bottle
  • Linseed oil
  • Soft cloths
  • Towel

Instructions

      Combine equal parts of vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray the entire couch with the solution and allow it to sit overnight.

      Wipe the couch with a clean cloth and warm water. Start from top to bottom and remove all of the vinegar solution. Pat dry the couch with a towel.

      Apply linseed oil to the entire couch using a clean cloth. Rub the oil into the leather in a circular motion, working from top to bottom.

      Wipe away excess linseed oil using a clean cloth.
