How to Make a Worn Brown Leather Couch Like New

Your couch has set the stage for some of your fondest memories. It was the place where you finally worked up the nerve to call your long-time crush and future wife to ask her out on a date. You spilled beer and smeared wine sauce all over it with your best buds when you watched your favorite football team take the Super Bowl for the sixth time. Now your old brown leather couch is worn and faded. Don't put it on the curb just yet; you might be surprised to find just which kitchen staple can make your couch look like new.

Instructions

    • 1

Combine two parts linseed oil and one part vinegar in a small bowl with 1 cup of warm water. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and apply to the couch in a circular motion working from top to bottom. Leave the solution on the couch overnight and wipe clean with a dry soft cloth the next day.

    • 2

Apply a leather recoloring balm to the entire couch working from top to bottom. Do not apply the balm in circular motions but follow the natural grain of the leather.

    • 3

Wipe away excess balm and buff the entire couch with soft cloths. The buffing process sets the coloring of the balm and restores the leather's original luster.
