How to Get the Fuzzies Off My Couch

Fuzzies form on your couch when the excess fiber comes off the fabric and stays on the surface. This process is known as pilling. These small balls on the upholstery are similar to those that form on your sweaters or carpeting. Fortunately, after removing the pills a few times, the process will stop as the excess fabric has been removed. Get rid of fuzzies from your couch the right way to ensure no damage is done to the upholstery in the process.

Instructions

    • 1

Vacuum the couch with the upholstery attachment on your vacuum cleaner. This will remove many of the loose pills from the furniture.

    • 2

Run a clothing shaver over the couch. Clothing shavers are hand-held battery operated devices that pick up the pills. Move the shaver slowly in a circular fashion over the couch until the pills are gone.

    • 3

Cut away any remaining pills with scissors. Place the blades of the scissors as close to the surface of the upholstery as possible and snip away the fuzzies. Do this carefully so you don’t inadvertently cut the fabric.

    • 4

Vacuum the couch again with the upholstery attachment to remove any loosened fuzzies from the couch.
