How to Clean Upholstery Without Leaving a Ring

Unless you and everyone in your home are immaculate all of the time, spills and stains on upholstery from time to time are inevitable. One common problem when stains are removed from upholstered furniture is a remaining moisture ring. Even though water is often used as a means of cleaning upholstery, it can stain furniture if it does not dry quickly enough. Prevent unsightly moisture marks on your furniture by cleaning and drying stains properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Wring out excess moisture from your cloth or sponge before treating a stain.

    • 2

Place a folded cloth or towel over the area once you've treated it.

    • 3

Position a weighted item on top of the cloth or towel. A heavy book or pot works well for this.

    • 4

Wait one hour and check the area to see if all the moisture has been wicked up into the cloth. If not, place a dry cloth back onto the area and weigh it down again. Keep checking at hour intervals until the moisture is gone.
