Vacuum the outside polyester fiber covering before cleaning. Make sure to remove all cushions to vacuum underneath them. All stray hairs and dirt should be removed.
Blot at any wet spots using a paper towel or a soft cloth. Do not press too firmly. This will prevent the liquid from penetrating to the polyurethane foam in the padding.
Sprinkle about 1/4 cup of baking soda over the spilled areas and let it sit for 20 minutes. This will allow any excess moisture to be absorbed by the baking soda. Vacuum up the baking soda after 20 minutes.
Mix together 1 quart of warm water and 2 to 3 tablespoons of a mild detergent. Liquid dishwashing detergent works best. The amount of the detergent depends on how large an area needs to be cleaned. Mix the solution to create a foam.
Dip a non-abrasive sponge or cloth into the solution. Wring it out before application.
Apply the solution liberally over the stain and scrub into the fabric. Scrub in a circular motion, working from the outside in.
Wet a clean cloth in warm water and wipe down the area you just scrubbed. Remove as much of the soap and solution as you can. Dry the area thoroughly when finished.
