How to Get Rid of Scour Pad Scratches on an Acrylic Bathtub

The abrasive nature of a scouring pad is detrimental to the finish of your acrylic bathtub. Typically, the less abrasive cleaner and cloth you use, the better your bathtub will look. Occasionally, a scouring pad comes in contact with the tub and leaves scratches. When this happens, there are a few things you can do to restore its lustrous finish.

Instructions

    • 1

Buff the scratched area with a polishing compound, if it is not too deep. Buff in a circular motion around the scratch until it is removed, then polish it to bring back the shine.

    • 2

Wet a piece of 1500 grit sandpaper with water and sand the scratch and surrounding area.

    • 3

Use a circular motion over the scratch and repeat until the scratch is gone.

    • 4

Shine the formerly scratched area with a small amount of polish on a clean rag. Repeat this process until the bathtub shines.
