Removing a Perspiration Odor From a Leather Chair

When you buy a new chair, one of your top priorities is preventing stains, especially if it is made of leather. However, your leather chair can still absorb unpleasant odors, such as those from a perspiring person sitting on it. Buying a leather chair secondhand increases the likelihood that the material has absorbed an odor from a previous user.

Instructions

    • 1

Sniff the different parts of the chair to determine which areas have a worse smell than others. Put some baking soda around all affected areas, putting a little more where the odor worsens. Allow the powder to rest there overnight.

    • 2

Vacuum the baking soda from the chair and check if the odor is still prominent.

    • 3

Spray a mixture of 1 part vinegar, 1 part water. Wipe off the vinegar as soon as you finish spraying it to prevent damage to the leather.

    • 4

Spray regular water onto the leather to wash off the vinegar and wipe it off immediately.

    • 5

Repeat the previous steps if the smell lingers.
