Reupholstering A Barstool

Bar stools easily wear and tear over time because of the simple structure of the furniture. If the upholstery fabric is stained or has holes, you can reupholster the bar stools inexpensively and without many tools. You may choose new fabric that is similar to the former upholstery or a trendy fabric that will update the look of the stools.

Instructions

    • 1

Flip over one of the bar stools. Remove the nails and staples with extractor pliers. If the fabric is screwed down, use a screwdriver to loosen it to help remove the fabric without tearing it.

    • 2

Remove all of the fabric from the stool. Lay it down on a large piece of paper, and trace around the edges to make a pattern for the new upholstery fabric.

    • 3

Remove the pad foam from the stool if it is damaged. Cut a new piece of chair pad foam to match the size of the old piece. Attach the new chair pad foam to the stool with foam glue.

    • 4

Flip the stool over on the ground to apply pressure to the chair pad foam while it is drying. Allow the chair pad foam to dry for at least an hour.

    • 5

Arrange the new upholstery fabric on the seat of the stool. Secure the fabric by stapling it into place securely with a stapling gun on the bottom side of the stool. Staple the sides securely.
