Memory-foam mattresses are made of polyurethane that softens with body heat and molds to the sleeper's body for a comfortable night’s sleep. The warmer the temperature is, the softer the memory-foam mattress. A low-density mattress is also pressure-sensitive and instantly becomes soft when an object presses into its surface. If the memory-foam mattress is too soft, adjust the temperature of the room or cover with a mattress pad to add firmness.
Keep your room at 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Memory foam becomes firmer at colder temperatures.
Allow the mattress to adjust to the cooler temperature before using.
Place a mattress pad on top of the memory-foam mattress. These mattress pads can be found at most home-goods stores and come in a range of firmness levels. Eggshell-crate mattress pads can instantly add firmness to the mattress and are also easily removable if needed.
