Maintaining a clean home is an integral part of maintaining a healthy home. Cleaning and sanitizing fabrics can often present a challenge, given that such a covering is typically displayed as part of a larger piece of furniture. However, with a few simple steps, the Sunbrella brand of fabrics can be sanitized using basic household cleaners and a little elbow grease. Sunbrella strives to provide customers with high-quality fabrics for both indoor and outdoor use. Fortunately, the life of these fabrics can be extended with regular cleanings and sanitizing, as needed.
Brush any excess dirt or contaminants off of the Sunbrella fabric surface. Take removable seat and cushion covers off of furniture prior to cleaning & sanitizing.
Prepare a solution of 1 cup bleach and 1/4 cup mild detergent soap per one gallon of clean, warm water. Place the prepared solution into a clean spay bottle.
Spray the bleach solution onto the Sunbrella fabric, focusing on areas affected with heavy stains or mildew. Allow the bleach solution to sit on the fabric for approximately fifteen minutes in a well-ventilated area.
Work the bleach solution into the fabric to remove any stains, or particularly dirty areas, by gently scrubbing the dampened fabric with a clean sponge or soft bristled brush after the solution has been allowed to sit for 15 minutes. Dip the sponge or brush into clean, warm water after each pass over the fabric to aid in the removal of the soap residue as you clean.
Wipe the treated fabric with a clean, wet towel to remove any remaining soap and bleach residue. When suds no longer appear after wiping with a wet cloth, wipe the fabric down with a clean, dry towel. Allow the fabric to air dry once the process is complete.
