How to Receive Carbon Credits

There is much talk these days about global warming and other climactic changes. Some research indicates carbon dioxide from automobiles, power plants and other sources are building up causing these changes in the atmosphere. Many organizations offer carbon credits as a reward to offset the impact of gas emissions. Many of these organizations invest in renewable energy sources and energy efficiency projects to absorb the greenhouse gases equivalent to the amount you emit.

Instructions

    • 1

Calculate the amount of carbon dioxide you emit by using an online calculator. The calculator helps you determine how much energy you use by your food choices, amount of travel, and trash disposal. That translates into the size of your carbon footprint.

    • 2

Reduce your carbon footprint based on the results from the calculation. You can use the heat or air conditioner less often, travel less, plant trees or purchase local foods.

    • 3

Find an organization that meets your energy goals. Look for programs that support the same type of projects you support and use them to receive carbon credits.

    • 4

Purchase your carbon credits. This can be done with a one-time contribution for a fixed number of carbon credits, or you can pay a monthly fee.
