Burn marks from dropped cigarettes, or butts left burning, is another common issue. Burn marks on a wood coffee table can ruin the finish, burning the wax, oil or the wood itself. A small cigarette mark can be removed with a little bit of cleaning, without the need to remove excessive amounts of finish from the coffee table.
