The softness and comfort of suede makes it a comfortable upholstery for couches. The luxurious appearance of suede is maintained through regular cleaning that keeps the surface stain-free without damaging the fibers. Crayon marks on your suede couch add a wax-based color stain that detracts from the appearance of the furniture. To remove the crayon stain, you must lift the wax and color from the surface and the fibers without damaging the natural suede material.
Fill a plastic zip bag with ice and lay it on the crayon stain on the suede couch. Ice will harden the crayon wax, making it easier to remove.
Scrape the hardened crayon wax material from the surface of the couch with the dull side of a table knife. Remove as much of the crayon as possible to concentrate on crayon left in the fibers.
Dampen a clean cloth with dry cleaning solvent and then squeeze out as much of the solvent as possible, so the cloth is barely damp. Blot the remaining crayon stain on the suede to remove the color stain. As the stain is lifted, move to a clean portion of the cloth and continue to blot.
Press a dry cloth into the suede to absorb any dry cleaning solvent that remains on the suede. Treat waxy residue from the crayon by sponging the upholstery with a cloth dampened with undiluted white vinegar. Absorb the vinegar by pressing a dry cloth over the surface and then allow the couch to air dry.
Brush the suede with a suede brush to fluff up the fibers and blend the nap into the surrounding suede.
