Instructions for the Bissell PowerSteamer Platinum 2

The Bissell PowerSteamer Platinum II is designed to deep-clean carpets instead of simply suctioning up dirt and debris like a standard vacuum cleaner. The unit includes a flow indicator, easy-access belt door, power brush system, mixing tank for the cleaner and water, brush storage and an indicator light. The PowerSteamer is sold in many appliance stores and department stores as well as on the Internet. Due to the use of chemicals, heat and the weight of the PowerSteamer, only adults should operate the device.

Instructions

    • 1

Move furniture out of the way and vacuum the carpet surface with a standard household vacuum if possible to lift up surface dirt and debris.

    • 2

Flip the water tank handle forward to separate the tank from the machine and remove the lid. Fill the tank with hot water, replace the lid and flip the handle forward to latch. Set the tank on the PowerSteamer and push the handle backward to clip the tank into place.

    • 3

Remove the formula tank, located underneath the water tank, from the PowerSteamer. Turn its lid counterclockwise and lift out the lid and tube. Fill the tank with cleaning formula and screw the lid and tube back into place. Set the formula tank back on the unit and push gently to secure.

    • 4

Plug in the PowerSteamer and select the desired cleaning level. "Heavy Traffic" is for cleaning carpets that are very dirty, "Normal" is for carpets with typical wear and tear and "Water Rinse" is for more delicate surfaces.

    • 5

Turn on the power switch and the heater switch, and allow one minute for the cleaning solution to warm up.

    • 6

Press the cleaning trigger on the handle and hold it down while pushing the unit forward and pulling it back. Let go of the trigger and do one more pass over the same section without pressing the trigger.

    • 7

Create overlapping sections as you clean the carpet. When cleaning is complete turn off and unplug the PowerSteamer, allowing a few minutes for the device to cool. Remove the tanks and rinse well with water. Set the tanks aside to dry, then replace them in the appliance.
