Operating Instructions for a Bissell

Bissell vacuum cleaners come with a variety of features available, including cyclonic suction, HEPA filtration system, long extension wand, bottom-empty dirt cup, pet hair tools, cleaning brushes, a wide cleaning path and long power cord. Sold in many appliance stores, home retail stores, department stores and on the Internet, a Bissell vacuum should operate well for a long time with regular cleaning, maintenance and care. Operating a vacuum is fairly straightforward, but should only be done by adults familiar with using large, electric home appliances to help reduce the risk of injury.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the Bissell vacuum into a working electrical power supply.

    • 2

Turn the "Height Setting" dial to the correct setting for the floor. The lowest setting is designed for bare floors or low pile carpets, while the medium setting is best for medium pile carpet, and high is best for shag carpeting or high pile carpets.

    • 3

Press the power button to "On."

    • 4

Step on the "Handle Release" pedal on the base of the Bissell vacuum. Lower the handle to the desired height for cleaning.

    • 5

Maneuver the vacuum in a back and forth motion over the cleaning area, creating overlapping sections for the most thorough results.

    • 6

Press the power button to "Off" when cleaning is complete. Remove the dirt container when finished and empty it in a waste container. Replace the dirt cup in the vacuum.

    • 7

Clean the vacuum filters by brushing off excess dirt and rinsing with water if necessary. Air dry the filter(s) for at least 24 hours. Do not wash the filter if it is marked "HEPA" on its housing.

    • 8

Store the vacuum in a cool, dry area.
