How to Clean Waterless Urinals

Waterless urinals help conserve water. These urinals look almost exactly like conventional urinals, with the exception of the flush valve. There are no pipes above waterless urinals because they do not need to flush. There is a cylinder in the urinal that traps the urine, and a liquid sealant sits on top of the drain. The urine moves through the sealant and into the waste line, where it is drained. Cleaning waterless urinals is much easier than cleaning conventional urinals. There is less bacterial growth because there is no water.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on safety goggles and a pair of rubber gloves. Remove any large objects from the urinal by hand, and throw them in the trash. Inspect the urinal to make sure no debris remains.

    • 2

Using an all-purpose cleaner, spray the urinal beginning at the top and working toward the bottom. Cover the entire inside and outside of the urinal. Wait 10 minutes to allow the cleaner time to soak.

    • 3

Fill a bucket with water, and dip a soft sponge into the water. Clean the outside of the urinal with the soft sponge. Go over the entire area until all visible marks have been wiped clean, then clean inside the urinal.

    • 4

Dry the surface of the urinal with a clean, soft cloth. Inspect the urinal to make sure there are no marks and that it has been scrubbed completely clean.
